Days after he completed second at Auto Membership Speedway, it is not clear when NASCAR driver Chase Elliott will be capable to race once more. 

Elliott was scheduled to bear surgical procedure Friday evening after he suffered a leg damage in a snowboarding accident earlier within the day in Colorado.

Elliott will miss Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after being injured Friday in Colorado. There isn’t any timetable but for his return. 

Hendrick Motorsports proprietor Rick Hendrick mentioned in a press release Friday that Elliott has “spoken with a number of members of our staff and is understandably upset to overlook time within the automobile.”

Hendrick added that there seemingly will not be one other replace on Elliott till later within the weekend.

Josh Berry will substitute Elliott on Sunday in Las Vegas, driving the No. 9 automobile for Hendrick Motorsports. Berry is a full-time driver within the Xfinity Collection for JR Motorsports, which Hendrick co-owns with NASCAR Corridor of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Earnhardt’s sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller.

Elliott entered 2023 as a high contender for the NASCAR Cup Collection championship, an concept that was bolstered by his sturdy displaying in Fontana final Sunday. Elliott completed 14th in February’s Daytona 500. 

In line with Fox Sports activities’ Bob Pockrass, Elliott would want a waiver to stay eligible for the sequence championship if he misses races. Sunday will mark Elliott’s first missed race since he turned a full-time Cup Collection driver in 2016.
